Margie Moran-Floirendo explores the beauty of Tulum

There is no such thing as a tall order for someone persistent and driven.

Margie Moran-Floirendo was reminded of this when she saw the beauty of Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico with her own eyes.

“In spite of the challenges it faces to conserve the environment, Tulum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was once a sleepy fishing village on the coast of the Caribbean that has become one of the top tourist destinations,” she started her caption.

She went on further, describing their resort’s location which was within the national park.

Of her experiences, she shared, “We trekked, waded and swam for an hour in a private cenote in Akumal. It is a sinkhole in a jungle with fresh water used by the Mayans. We entered a tiny entrance that brought us underground into cavernous chambers with stalagmites and stalactites.”

Tulum, Quintana Roo, Mexico. In spite of the challenges it faces to conserve the environment, Tulum is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was once a sleepy fishing village on the coast of the Caribbean that has become one of the top tourist destinations. The resorts are situated between the pristine white sand beaches and the lush jungle and wildlife. Our resort is within the national park. It is the site of a pre- Columbian Mayan port city. We trekked, waded and swam for an hour in a private cenote in akumal. It is a sinkhole in a jungle with fresh water used by the Mayans. We entered a tiny entrance that brought us underground into cavernous chambers with stalagmites and stalactites. I can only show a part of it from an opening at the top as I could not take my cell phone with me. @monbiot @gfloi
