Inuna pa negosyo! Grab’s Brian Cu refuses to help mayor search for passengers exposed to infected driver

Grab Philippines head Brian Cu is refusing to cooperate with Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr. in tracking down passengers who were exposed to an infected driver of the Singapore-based app.

Grab Philippines head Brian Cu is refusing to cooperate with Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr. in tracking down passengers who were exposed to an infected driver of the Singapore-based app.

“The Grab officials cited protocols and confidentiality. They told me that DOH (Department of Health) is the proper agency to handle it not the LGU (local government unit). I even reminded them of the Proclamation of President Duterte that LGUs are mandated to prevent the spread of the disease but my plea fell on deaf ears,” Lazatin said in a post on Angeles City’s Facebook.

Lazatin said Grab should consider public heath risks over breaking the confidentiality of its passengers’ logbook. “This is not the time to think of their business,” Lazatin said.

A Grab driver – Mitsubishi Mirage with plate number 6989 – ferried passengers to and from Manila, Angeles City, and Pampanga areas. Lazatin said a back tracing of passengers would help stop the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

Lazatin said Grab;s behavior was “unacceptable” considering that safety of our constituents was at stake. He questioned Grab’s defiant stance despite President Rodrigo Duterte’s declaration of Code Red Sublevel 2.

Cu had recently been blamed for shutting down Wack-Wack Golf Course and Country Club in Mandaluyong City. One of Cu’s guests based in Singapore in the golf course had later tested positive for COVID-19 and the Grab Philippines boss was slammed Cu for not informing the Club much earlier and for coming back to the club even after knowing his guest was infected.
