Holding the edge: MVP says PLDT on track to hit 1M fiber subscribers

As demand for greater internet data bandwidth is relentless, telco giant PLDT is confident it can hit one fiber-to-the-home broadband customers this year despite lingering pandemic challenges.

“We already have about 12 million homes passed and about 5.29 million ports, by far the biggest base for ports available. So by 2022 there will be a big push as Home figures as a major revenue driver for growth for PLDT,” said Manuel V. Pangilinan, chairman of PLDT.

PLDT Home has connected more than 800,000 households with fiber last year.

The fiber business contributed more than 19 percent to PLDT’s total service revenues of P46 billion in the third quarter of 2021, 11 percent higher than the same period a year ago.

To win new subscribers, PLDT Home will continue to introduce more attractive and relevant Home plans These include the new Unli Fiber Plans ranging from 50Mbps speeds for Plan 1699 to 1000Mbps for Plan 9499, along with other Fibr Plus plans that bundle Wi-fi mesh devices to keep all corners of the home connected.

“We introduced the newest set of Fibr plans with upgraded speeds to further give every Filipino family the best digital experience,” said Butch G. Jimenez, Jr., SVP and head of PLDT Home Business.
