The National Bureau of Investigation has arrested two Nigerians and five Filipinos in connection with the massive hacking incident that targeted over 700 Banco De Oro depositors in December last year.

The National Bureau of Investigation has arrested two Nigerians and five Filipinos in connection with the massive hacking incident that targeted over 700 Banco De Oro depositors in December last year.

They will be charged with illegal access and fraud after confessing to participating in the hack.
One of the suspects, a 27-year-old hacker, has long been wanted by authorities. He confessed to members of the NBI cybercrime division that he provided the database of BDO depositors to the Nigerians.

The hacker, who uses the name “X-Men,” also boasted about hacking and defacing various websites to collect information he could sell.

Another suspect, meanwhile, said he was behind the email blast sent to BDO depositors about the hack.

The third suspect, a 25-year-old woman, also boasted about their group’s involvement in a hacking modus involving the cloning of GCash accounts.

The BDO hacking involved the unauthorized transfer of depositors’ money to UnionBank accounts named under “Mark Nagoyo.”
