Cracking down on counterfeit: Over 100 sacks of fake Louis Vuitton goods seized at Greenhills Shopping Center

Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) seized on Monday (April 4) over 100 sacks of fake Louis Vuitton goods sold at stalls inside Greenhills Shopping Center in San Juan City.

The NBI received a court order to conduct the raid on the request of the luxury goods house, which wanted all “finished or unfinished products bearing the trademark ‘Louis Vuitton’ to be confiscated.

The NBI’s operation, which caught sellers by surprise, was completed in less than an hour. No one was arrested.

“The raid was implemented quickly to avoid a violent incident like what happened in the past, where some men tried to get back the confiscated items,’’ an NBI agent said.

The NBI estimates the seized products to be worth millions of pesos. Greenhills Shopping Center is a known shopping mecca, where both original and counterfeit items are sold at bargain prices.

Following the raid, the NBI will file cases against the sellers and distributors of the counterfeit Louis Vuitton products.

“After the filing of the case, all the fake LV products will be destroyed on the order of the court,” the NBI agent said.
