AirAsia launches Dumaguete service

AirAsia Philippines, led by the family of politician-businessman Mikee Romero has launched its 15th domestic destination.

The low-cost carrier today made a successful inaugural flight to Dumaguete, which now officially joins the carrier’s growing domestic route network.

AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said the opening of its Dumaguete route is almost two years in the making, as its earlier planned launch was delayed because of the pandemic.

” With AirAsia now being present in the Dumaguete air space, we hope to drive tourists into the city and the entire Negros Oriental province, positioning the City of Gentle People as the gateway to this region,” Isla said.

“We are confident that this expansion will also help in stimulating commerce and growth in other sectors, such as ICT and trade,” he added.

AirAsia will initially fly to Dumaguete City four times weekly, every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
