Check out Cebu’s first toll expressway

The country’s longest crossing linking Cebu City to the town of Cordova is nearing completion, a major engineering milestone four years in the making.

A project of Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., the 8.9 kilometer Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) was designed and constructed to withstand earthquakes, typhoons or tsunamis.

CCLEX will provide a new connection between Cebu’s industrial zone and Mactan International Airport, and to the new urban developments of Cordova on the island.

It will have eight toll lanes – four lanes in each direction.

The P30 billion CCLEX will boost business opportunities and Cebu’s reputation as a global tourist destination.

It is part of infrastructure conglomerate Metro Pacific Investment Corp.’s vision of an interconnected Philippines.

MPIC unit Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. has introduced a cashless toll collection system to motorists. People can register online for the installation of CCLEX’s radio frequency identification stickers for vehicles.

CCLEX is the third link to Mactan Island from Cordova to mainland Cebu through Cebu City’s South Road Properties.

It has a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour and is built with a navigational clearance or height of 51 meters to allow large vessels to pass safely underneath the bridge.
