Fighting for a pink future: EastWest Bank president Tony Moncupa joins Pasay rally for Robredo

EastWest Bank President, Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman Tony Moncupa Jr. braved the summer heat on April 23 to join thousands of Vice President Leni Robredo’s supporters at a mega rally in Pasay City.

In a Facebook post, Moncupa said he and his son Tom rode a big bike to the Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard to join supporters who were mostly wearing pink shirts. Organizers claimed the attendance at the rally reached over 412,000.

“My youngest son, Tom, and I had a ride yesterday. He brought me to Pasay. Unbelievable sea of humanity. All wearing hues of pink,” Moncupa shared.

The top banker was among the thousands of youth activists jailed and tortured during Martial Law, which was declared by the father and namesake of Robredo’s fiercest rival, Bongbong Marcos.

“Tom says the people are there to show their solidarity. For what, I asked? He says it’s for the future of our country – social justice, better governance, better economy. Wow! Am impressed….he is my son,” Moncupa beamed.
