Cesar Purisima grabs 9th board seat six years after stepping down as Finance Secretary

Former SGV & Co. chairman Cesar Purisima has added another directorship to his growing collection of board seats since he ended his term as Finance Secretary in 2016.

Purisima was elected as an independent director of Ayala Corp. on April 29. He replaced AB Capital chairman and CEO Antonio Jose Periquet Jr. who ended his tour of duty after ten years.

AC is Purisima’s ninth board seat over the last six years and his fourth with the Ayala group after Ayala Land Inc. (2018), Bank of The Philippine Islands, and BPI Capital (2020).

The 61-year-old Purisima is also a director of AIA Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking, Universal Robina Corp., ABS-CBN Broadcasting Corp., and Jollibee Foods Corp.

These firms are on top of his affiliation with eight other institutions: executive in residence of Asian Institute of Management; trustee of De La Salle University; trustee of International School of Manila; founder and director of Ikhlas Capital Singapore (a pan-ASEAN private equity platform); Asia fellow of Milken Institute; council member of Singapore Management University; director or Unistar Credit and Finance Corp.; and trustee of World Wildlife Fund.
