Globe Telecom Inc. expects to maintain growth in data traffic this year as mobility slowly returns to normal.
The uptrend in mobile use should continue as more Filipinos regain confidence to go out amid easing pandemic restrictions.
Globe’s mobile data traffic hit 3,733 petabytes last year, up 48 percent year-on-year.
The Ayala-led telco also posted record mobile data revenues at P77.8 billion end-2021 with digital acceleration driven by connectivity needs in the pandemic.
Last year, Globe mobile data accounted for 75 percent of mobile revenues, 70 percent higher than the previous year.
“We registered encouraging growth in data traffic in 2021, and we see this sustained this year as more people are now going back out for work, school and leisure,” said Darius Delgado, head of Globe Consumer Mobile Business.
