She is calling for everyone to practice restraint.
Daphne Osena Paez received mixed reactions when she made public her support for the tandem of former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Davao City mayor Sara Duterte who are gunning for President and Vice President of the country, respectively.
“My Facebook page has almost doubled in size. Lots of love in Facebook, lots of hate in Instagram and Twitter as well. I didn’t expect it to go this far,” Daphne shared.
“I “came out” from my quiet little world not to campaign. BBM-Sara are doing a very good job without the need for endorsers. I respect everyone’s choices and wouldn’t dare attempt to change people’s minds,” she said.
Daphne wanted to free herself of the fear of judgment and cancellation. She’s been sad lately of how divisive the political climate has been, with many fighting and canceling one another because of differing political views.
She did not forget to thank those who were by her side when she aired her support.
She then added, “In a healthy democracy, none of us would need to be protected from hate and cancel culture. We should all be free to exercise our right to speak, choose, campaign, or be silent. No one has the monopoly on virtue.”
She invited everyone to fight cancel culture and remember that at the end of the day, we are all humans.
