The people have spoken: Robredo fanatic Makati Business Club is moving on, accepts Marcos-Duterte massive poll victory

The Makati Business Club (MBC) has finally accepted that its handpicked candidates, Vice President Leni Robredo and Senator Kiko Pangilinan, have been defeated in what it called the largest voter turnout in history.

In a statement, MBC, which claimed to have helped “push for the return of democracy” in the country in 1986, congratulated former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the son of the late dictator, and Davao Mayor Sara Duterte for winning the 2022 elections.

MBC issued the statement on May 13 or four days after Election Day when the advanced but unofficial results showed a landslide defeat for Robredo and Pangilinan as predicted by pre-poll surveys as early as November 2021.

“The Filipino people have spoken and we, as well as other members of the business community, look forward to working with the incoming Administration, Congress, and local governments to build our economy and to create jobs and opportunity,” the MBC said.

“We urge everyone to channel the energy mustered during the campaign to work together to drive the changes expected by people to bring about greater inclusiveness, an improvement in peoples’ lives and prosperity for all,” it added. (Eileen Mencias)
