President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos announced new appointments as he vows to hit the ground running.
Information technology law expert Ivan John Uy has been handpicked by President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. as the next secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
“The president-elect’s vision of a digitally empowered citizenry actively participating in the increasingly digital economy would greatly help address nagging issues on poverty, job creation, bridging the digital divide making us globally competitive,” said Uy, who served as chairman of the Commission on Information and Communications Technology under the administration of former president Benigno Aquino III.
Uy is currently the corporate secretary of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce,.
Meanwhile, outgoing Liloan Cebu mayor Christina Frasco was named new tourism secretary. She is the daughter of Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia.
Frasco also served as the spokesperson of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte since July 2021.
